“Maysoon: How Rod Hamdallah's music accompanies Nancy Biniadakis's decisive scene”

A relationship unravels, a passport expires – and suddenly everything is at stake.

Egyptian archaeologist Maysoon (Sabrina Amali) lives in Berlin with her partner Tobi (Florian Stetter) and their two children when her past resurfaces. Once politically active before the Arab Spring, she now faces the risk that a return to Egypt could cost her freedom. Fearing the loss of her home, her family, and her sense of control, Maysoon is forced into a struggle – against Tobi, against the system, and against herself.

Caught between bureaucracy, a fractured relationship, and the question of who her children truly belong to, a story of guilt and self-assertion gradually comes to light.

Maysoon is an intimate, multi-layered drama about a woman at the edge of her existence – and about the radical power of love.

In the pivotal scene of the film Maysoon by acclaimed director Nancy Biniadaki, the emotional intensity of the story reaches its peak, brought to life through the compelling musical contribution of musician Rod Hamdallah.
