American Rock 'n' Roll
Pat Todd & the Rankoutsiders are a no compromise rock 'n' roll band from Los Angeles, born out of the ashes of the legendary Lazy Cowgirls. Led by frontman Pat Todd — a songwriter whose name is synonymous with the raw heart of American underground music — the band embodies a sound that fuses the snarling edge of ’70s punk with the soul of country, blues, and classic rock.
For decades, Pat Todd has walked the backroads of American music with purpose and conviction, channeling stories of love, loss, resilience, and redemption into songs that hit as hard as they ring true. His voice carries the grit of experience, and his lyrics read like torn pages from a well-worn diary of the American dream gone sideways.

The Rankoutsiders take that vision and amplify it — loud guitars, tight rhythms, and a deep reverence for the rough and beautiful mess of rock ‘n’ roll. Their music isn’t polished or packaged — it’s lived in, broken in, and built to last. You’ll hear echoes of the Stones and the Ramones, but also the ghosts of dive bar jukeboxes, late-night highways, and cheap motel poetry.

More than just a band, Pat Todd & the Rankoutsiders represent a tradition of authenticity in American music. They don’t follow trends — they follow the truth in the song. Whether on stage or in the studio, they deliver high-energy performances driven by heart, sweat, and a relentless belief in the power of rock 'n' roll to speak to the soul.
Discography
The Outskirts Of Your Heart
Self-released
«The Outskirts Of Your Heart» is an ambitious two-disc set, with the first LP primarily devoted to raw, four-on-the-floor rock. Songs like «Just Another Stupid Guy» and «November 11th» have the kind of turbocharged tunefulness that made the Lazy Cowgirls a significant influence on the likes of Nine Pound Hammer, the Supersuckers and numerous others. The second disc, meanwhile, leans toward roots rock and country music, with heartfelt ballads conveying a more low-key approach. Mandolin-flavored strummers (It Was a Stupid Dream Anyway) and bottleneck bummers (the Ronnie Lane-like «Kendall County Blues») share space with barnburning, Jason & the Scorchers meet New York Dolls raveups. but there's plenty of crosstalk between the two.
This album features Todd's strongest lineup of musicians since the Ragged Soul-era Cowgirls — guitarists Nick Alexander and Tony Hannaford, bassist Rick Johnson, and drummer Bob Deagle are tight, grooving, and emphatic regardless of volume — but the star of this show is Pat Todd, and he's in stellar form here. Lots of rockers talk about passion and commitment, but for Todd those aren't words, they're as necessary to life as water and oxygen, and he has no fear in letting the deepest and most painful secrets of love, life, and survival take the center stage in this 28 songs.

Blood & Treasure
Hound Gawd! Records
Pat Todd, from the legendary Lazy Cowgirls, has unleashed a twelve track wrecking ball of rock ‘n’ roll upon the world. This is the forth offering from Todd and his Rankoutsiders, and these grooves are as raw, dirty, and driving as ever. A record full of great tunes that sounds like they came straight out of a garage.
For over twenty years, The Lazy Cowgirls were the undisputed kings of Los Angeles underground rock ‘n’ roll, releasing countless singles and albums for labels such as Sympathy For the Record Industry, Crypt, Bomp!, and Gearhead. Wayne Coyne, of The Flaming Lips, called them an «American Institution». The Cowgirls may be no more, but their founder, vocalist and songwriter, Pat Todd, has released his fourth full length album with The Rankoutsiders entitled «Blood & Treasure». The album reflects the diversity of American Rock 'n' Roll. Love, hope, sex, death, betrayal, renewal – it’s all here. Pat Todd’s songwriting is an road map that leads back to the self – an existential longing to reside in the aesthetics of self creation. Some call it art, others the blues, soul, country, rock ‘n’ roll – Keith and Mick live there; so do Ronnie, Johnny, Gram, and Hank.
«Blood & Treasure» features the talents of the Rankoutsider family past and present. One time Lazy Cowgirl/Creamers alum Bob Deagle on drums make up a stellar rhythm section with a rolling bass pedal pushing the songs along, with Nick Alexander (Rankoutsiders/L.A. Guns) and Kevin Keller trading some broken bottle guitar licks. Bassist Rick Johnson (Lazy Cowgirls) and second drummer Brian Irving (The Defendant) are tight, grooving, and emphatic regardless of volume. The harmonica of Jeremy White (The Blessings) comes in with a great blend of Americana music. Pat’s voice is spot on once again, the vocals snarl and sneer in pure rockin’ joy. «Blood & Treasure» was produced and engineered by former Sparks guitarist, Earle Mankey (The Cramps, Concrete Blonde, The Beach Boys, Possum Dixon).
«Blood & Treasure» just gives you that smokey, hard drinking club feel and the spirit and feel of a live performance.

The Past Came Callin’
Hound Gawd! Records
As frontman for the ferocious Lazy Cowgirls for over two decades, Pat Todd was a SoCal garage/punk godfather. In 2005, however, he sent the Cowgirls to the great saloon in the sky in order to get a fresh start. As you can take the boy outta the garage but you can't always take the garage outta the boy, traces of the Cowgirls' high-velocity vibe remain in the Rankoutsiders' sound. They follow a similar path to the latter-era Cowgirls — fast and loud old-school punk on one hand, and hard but heartfelt honky tonk on the other. The Rankoutsiders — part Chuck Berry, part Hank Williams, part Rolling Stones, part Johnny Thunders — are the perfect vehicle to bring Pat Todd's visions to life, rocking like raging fury one minute and swaying like an Indian summer breeze the next.
The album reflects the diversity of American Rock 'n' Roll. Love, hope, sex, death, betrayal, renewal – it’s all here. Pat Todd’s songwriting is a road map that leads back to the self – an existential longing to reside in the aesthetics of self-creation. Some call it art, others the blues, soul, country, rock‘n’roll.
The Rankoutsiders are Pat Todd on acoustic guitar, harmonica and vocalist, Nick Alexander on electric and acoustic guitar, Kevin Keller on electric and acoustic guitar and vocals on «The Ring, The Bottle & The Gun», Steven Vigh on bass along with drummer Walter Phelan. «The Past Came Callin’» was produced and engineered by former Sparks guitarist, Earle Mankey (The Cramps, Concrete Blonde, The Beach Boys, Possum Dixon).

There’s Pretty Things In Palookaville
Hound Gawd! Records
Patt Todd & The Rankoutsiders, the underground rock 'n' roll icons from Los Angeles, are back in top form with a new album. "...there's pretty things in Palookaville…" is full of high energy that plays on the tradition of the last 75 years of American rock 'n' roll, complemented by exciting, fast and gritty chords.
There are no showy sound tricks or autotune here, it's just the sound of a great band working in a sweaty studio and knowing they're capturing a little more magic with each song than they did with the last take. „...there's pretty things in Palookaville" is sixteen rock 'n' roll songs that focus on loud guitars and good storytelling.
The influences are broad and the album sparkles with variety. The album rips right open with "All the Years #1" - a song that was rewritten for the "14th & Nowhere" LP and appears here in the first, faster version. "I always liked the "off kilter" riffs and chords the Kinks used to open songs and wanted to come up with one of my own," says Pat Todd. “Read 'em & Weep" is a reflective, country-influenced ballad with acoustic guitar and harmonica, highlighting Pat Todd's songwriting skills. The Rankoutsiders capture the emotions of a relationship crisis on their cover of the 1970 soul classic "Turn Back The Hands Of Time" by Tyrone Davies, putting their own spin on the song. Talkin' to the muse about money and its value (or lack of) is kind of ambiguous, but you can't listen to "Money" without imagining crowds singing along in unison as they hoist their beers.
On "...there's pretty things in Palookaville," Pat Todd is joined again by Nick Alexander and Kevin Keller on guitars, Steven Vigh on bass and Walter Phelan on drums. Former Sparks guitarist Earl Mankey (The Cramps, Concrete Blonde, The Beach Boys) once again twirled the knobs for the fellas. The album was originally scheduled for release in early 2020, but was postponed by the Covid 19 pandemic. Richard Duguay re-mixed and mastered the album during the waiting period to make the record a tad brighter.

Keepin’ Chaos At Bay
Hound Gawd! Records
For decades, Pat Todd has trolled the dark corners and back shelves of the thrift store of Americana and honed an extraordinarily sound. The new album distills everything he’s learned in his career-long, of all things rock and roll into a genre-scoffing dose of snarling ’70s punk rock, country, blues, roots rock full of hooks delivered with a brain and a heart. While these fundamentals have always been behind the Rankoutsiders’ anthemic songs, they come to full fruition on "Keepin’ Chaos at Bay" in one of the hardest rocking and most soulful albums of Todd’s career and nobody, but nobody, plays it like Pat Todd.
“Pat Todd is the most sincere Rock’n’Roll singer/songwriter on the planet. He makes the rest of us look like a bunch of fakers.” is how Blaine Cartwright of Nashville Pussy describes Pat Todd. The lyrics of the 14-track album bristles with a sense of chaos, dedication, lies & love and mystery. Also a Rankoutsiders constant are the premier-league tunes: songs are filled to bursting point with grandstanding melodies, and subtle little hooks. New Originals like “Why I Sing”, “The Company You Keep” or “Victim Of Dedication” reminds of his previous red hot outlaw rock band The Lazy Cowgirls while the country-folk punker “Poison Your Water” infiltrate your blood. “That Little Bit Of Nothin’” takes the listener through the ups and downs and is full of heartbreak and desire. The cover version of “Tower of Song” by Leonard Cohen shows how well the band can rearrange this song for themselves and turns it as if it were their own.
“Keepin’ Chaos at Bay” was recorded last year at Steady Studios Burbank, California by Gavin Ross and was produced and arranged by the Rankoutsiders. Pat Todd is joined again by guitarist and founding member, Nick Alexander; long-time guitarist and vocalist Kevin Keller, who also takes over the lead vocals on “You’re Gonna Loose It All”; Steven Vigh on bass and Walter Phelan on drums, the rhythm section, who are pushing the songs to the next level.
