There are no showy sound tricks or autotune here, it's just the sound of a great band working in a sweaty studio and knowing they're capturing a little more magic with each song than they did with the last take. "...there's pretty things in Palookaville" is sixteen rock 'n' roll songs that focus on loud guitars and good storytelling.

The influences are broad and the album sparkles with variety. The album rips right open with "All the Years #1" - a song that was rewritten for the "14th & Nowhere" LP and appears here in the first, faster version. "I always liked the "off kilter" riffs and chords the Kinks used to open songs and wanted to come up with one of my own," says Pat Todd. "Read 'em & Weep" is a reflective, country-influenced ballad with acoustic guitar and harmonica, highlighting Pat Todd's songwriting skills. The Rankoutsiders capture the emotions of a relationship crisis on their cover of the 1970 soul classic "Turn Back The Hands Of Time" by Tyrone Davies, putting their own spin on the song. Talkin' to the muse about money and its value (or lack of) is kind of ambiguous, but you can't listen to "Money" without imagining crowds singing along in unison as they hoist their beers.

On "…there's pretty things in Palookaville," Pat Todd is joined again by Nick Alexander and Kevin Keller on guitars, Steven Vigh on bass and Walter Phelan on drums. Former Sparks guitarist Earl Mankey (The Cramps, Concrete Blonde, The Beach Boys) once again twirled the knobs for the fellas. The album was originally scheduled for release in early 2020, but was postponed by the Covid 19 pandemic. Richard Duguay re-mixed and mastered the album during the waiting period to make the record a tad brighter.

This is a piece of art that allows you to take it where you want, while it takes you where you need to be.

Release Date: 26 March 2021
